Advanced Members - Reg & Mary Poad
Reg & Mary have been involved with photography for many years but in the last 20 years it has become much more competitive after investigating many clubs. Reg had always taken snaps whilst travelling, but then the bug bit and it became a more serious hobby.
Initially Reg used a Nikon camera and produced slides. Now he has Nikon D70 – his first digital camera and also the use of a D200 and D300 with various lenses. He is now thinking about upgrading to the Nikon D700. Reg likes entering international salons and has acceptances along with winning various competitions.
Reg is interested in nature photography which he feels can be very challenging along with general work.
Mary started with a Practika MTL 5B producing trade prints for the competitions within the club and then some 15 years ago switched to slides in order to produce images for making Audio Visual presentations. In the last few years the digital side became the in thing and so the Audio Visuals are now being made using various software available for both the images and the sounds.
Currently Reg is the Chairman of this club and Mary is the competition secretary which keeps her busy. Logging in work – this year it will top 1000 entries in the various sections - for the internal and external competitions, Mary really enjoys this and then visiting the judges with Reg to present the work. This can be a really social event and the same applies to the summer field trips.
