Last Sunday (28-06-09) as part of its Summer Field Trip programme the Camborne-Redruth Camera Club (C-RCC) met at the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The Gardens offer so much to photograph and the members spread themselves well over the site. Some immediately headed for The Jungle attracted by the wild life and flowers, others headed for the hide to photograph the many birds that frequent this popular area and the remainder actually specialising in the Gardens themselves.  All in all it was a very productive trip, despite the variable weather conditions.

Next Sunday the C-RCC meets at West Pentire’s top car park at 10-30 am to photograph the wild flowers and the bird life. After lunch it is proposed to move on to Crugmeer nr. Padstow to photograph rock formations.

The field trips are open events and anyone interested in photography is welcomed. Tuition is available.

Andy Davies has taken over the running of the Club’s website and has been busy bringing it up to date since Paul Davis’ transfer to Northumberland.

Presentation of cheque to CRCC

Over the past four months the C-RCC has been working in collaboration with the Camborne Chamber of Commerce in the production of an Audio-Visual presentation covering the many aspects of the town. This was in the capable hands of the Club’s experienced and well known locally A/V producers Reg and Mary Poad. The A/V formed part of the CPR stand at the Royal Cornwall Show and it will also be on display at this year’s Camborne Show. The presentation has been very well received and it will also form part of the display in CPR Innovation Centre which is now under construction adjacent to the Cornwall College Campus, Trevenson Road Pool. For their efforts Mary Poad received on behalf of the C-RCC a cheque for £200 from the Chamber’s Chairman George Le Hunte.

On Saturday (04-07-09) the C-RCC will be displaying a selection of work as a supporting feature of the Treleigh Church’s Summer Bazaar which is being held in the Church Hall.

FlowerTomorrow the Camborne & Redruth Camera Club (CRCC) will be meeting at the Lost Gardens of Heligan , at 10.30 am in the car park.  The club field trips are open events and anyone interested in photography are most welcome to join in.  Tuition is available or just learn from the experience!   Our field trips cover a wide variety of photographic techniques from macro and abstract photography to landscape and wildlife photography.   Whether your camera is film or digital, a compact or SLR these field trips will help you to get the best results from your camera.

See you tomorrow?  Go on give it a try, its fun!!

Last Sunday (07-06-09) the Camborne- Redruth Camera Club held a very well supported Field Trip to the National Trust site at Cotehele. Before the serious business of photography commenced, Delia Trathen (who was unable to attend the recent awards evening) was presented with her Trophy and certificate by Club Chairman Reg Poad for winning the Colour Print Points Competition in the Advanced Group. A further certificate was presented to Penny Laine for her successful first year in the Intermediate Group.

Having met at the Quay the members made their way towards the Cotehele Mill stopping en route to photograph the numerous wild flowers that abounded, in particular a field of oxeye daisies and an uncut meadow area prolific with Southern Marsh Orchids on the approaches to the Mill. On reaching the Mill, again there was plenty to photograph on the exterior and, a little more difficult, the interior.

The group returned to the Quay area for lunch and then made their way on foot to the House and Gardens.

The next scheduled Field Trip is to the Lost Gardens of Heligan on Sunday 28 June meeting at the car park at 10.30 am.

Further details about the Club’s Summer programme and field trip dates can be found on this website.

The field trips are open events and anyone interested in photography is welcomed.  Tuition is available.

Last Thursday evening (28-05-09) the members of the Camborne-Redruth Camera Club (C-RCC) met at the nearby Wheal Peevor site for the first evening Field Trip of the Summer programme. Though the weather was rather dull for landscape photography, members managed to find plenty to photograph in particular the wild flowers on the site. The group returned to the Treleigh Church Hall for refreshments and to view some of the early season field trip pictures. Members providing images were, Reg and Mary Poad, Andy Davies, Sheila Harvey, Peter Keverne and Jenny Goodman. Jenny also showed an A/V sequence of the Club’s recent visit to St Nectan’s Glen.

Friday evening (29-05-09) at the Inn for all Seasons was the finale of the C-RCC Winter’s programme with its annual dinner and awards ceremony. The awards were presented by the Club’s President’s wife Barbara Jenkin.

The Club’s webmaster Paul Davis, who has been with the C-RCC for the last three years is moving from RAF Portreath to a station in Northumberland. Paul who gained the most points in the Advanced monochrome print class was presented with a replica trophy, one that he could keep as a memento of his time with the C-RCC. He also received a card signed by the members. Mary Poad thanked Paul for his work on the Website.

Thanks were also expressed to Cross Street News for providing prizes for the raffle.

Finally Jenny Goodman (C-RCC Secretary) thanked Reg and Mary Poad for their work, energy and enthusiasm in making the Club the success it is today.

The members of the Camborne-Redruth Camera Club (C-RCC) met at the Treleigh Church Hall last Thursday evening (21-05-09) for the culmination of its Winter’s Programme. The event was billed as ‘The Chairman’s Evening’ and started with a competition to decide on the cover of the Club’s 2009-10 Programme Brochure. Eighteen designs were entered for consideration and the members were asked to vote for the Cover they thought conveyed the spirit of the Club.

Results:- 1st & Trophy Val Burtenshaw, 2nd Andy Davies – To be used as the title slide on Projected Images evenings and 3rd  Jenny Goodman.

The rest of the evening was devoted to two Audio/Visual Travelogues photographed and produced by Reg and Mary Poad. The first was of a recent holiday to Iceland and the second of a Rhine Cruise from Switzerland to Holland.

On Sunday (24-05-09) because of the favourable weather forecast there was a rapidly rearranged field trip to St Nectan’s Glen nr Tintagel. Although over the years most of the iconic places in Cornwall had been covered by the Club in its Summer Field Trip Programme this was a first visit and left the members impressed by the beauty of the Glen and the Waterfall. For the second part of the trip the Group followed the stream from the Glen to Rocky Valley and on to where it meets the sea.

The following C-RCC members who are also members of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Photo-group have had their work selected for the 2009-10 Permanent Exhibition at its Allet Headquarters.

Andy Davies       ‘Grey Goose’

Delia Trathen      ‘Ragged Robin’
