Camborne & Redruth Camera Club (CRCC) Thursday 20th May 2010
There were nine entries in the final competition of the 2009/10 winter programme. The challenge was To design the front cover of the 2010-11 Programme'. The first ballot ended in a tie and was finally decided by a show of hands with Mary Poad's entry running out the winner and Val Burtenshaw's the runner-up. Val's entry will be used as the Club's main desktop image for twelve months. Reg Poad (Chairman) was so delighted with the standard of the entry that he decided that all the remaining entries should be used at differing times through the year. To conclude the busy evening Bob Morgan gave a demonstration of the Adobe Lightroom 2.0 software and showed how he processed his RAW files, using some personal images, including some taken during the evening at Wheal Peevor. After a short questions and answer session Reg and Mary Poad both thanked Bob for an interesting demonstration and suggested that this could be expanded further and included in the 2010/11 Winter Programme. On Friday (21-05-10) the Club held its Annual Dinner and Awards evening at the Old Shire, Ramsgate, Nr. Camborne. The guest of honour was 93 year old Reg Sweet who retired as the Club's Treasurer recently, having held the post for at least 15 years. Noel Ellis (Vice-Chairman) presented a framed certificate of appreciation for all the work Reg has done for the Club over the years. Jenny Goodman (Secretary) on behalf of the members presented Reg with a signed card and a gift of fifty pounds. In reply Reg Sweet said that he had enjoyed his time with the Club (over 35 years) and wished C-RCC all the best for the future. His final duty was to present the Awards and Certificates. Mary Poad (Competition Secretary) was on hand and gave a humorous commentary as she reminded members of their accomplishments.
