Camborne & Redruth Camera Club (CRCC)

Thursday 25th March 2010

Last Thursday evening (25-03-10) Vivien Kennedy welcomed the Camborne & Redruth Camera Club to the St John’s Ambulance Hall, Wendron Street, Helston for a critique evening with the local Photographic Club. There was good support from both Clubs for this event and there were many interesting comments made and technical information exchanged during the presentation of the fifteen prints and fifteen projected images provided by each Club. Reg Poad (Chairman CRCC) thanked Helston Photographic Club for an interesting evening and not forgetting its generous hospitality. A raffle held during the evening raised over £20.00 to be donated to the St John’s Ambulance.

On Friday (19-03-10) CRCC played its final round of the Mersea Island Photographic Society’s (MIPS) Challenge 2010 and comfortably retained its third position in Group One in the competition. CRCC moves into the final along with Clubs from Hartlepool and Vale where they will meet the three leading Camera Clubs from Group Two (Clubs with over 50 members)- Tonbridge, XXR and Dingwall in the final hosted by the Tonbridge Camera Club on Thursday April 29.

There has been further success for CRCC members in the Western Counties Photographic Federation’s Members’ 2010 Exhibition. Jim Tarbox had two acceptances in the Monochrome Prints Section with prints entitled ‘Mounts Bay Early Morning’ and ‘Wheal Coates’ and Chairman Reg Poad an acceptance in the Colour Print Section with ‘The Race is On’.

Despite an unfavourable weather forecast last Sunday (28-03-10), CRCC went ahead and held its first all day Field Trip of its 2010 programme to Antony House and Park in South East Cornwall. The members found plenty to photograph until 3.00 pm when rain curtailed their day.

Tonight (01-04-01) at the Treleigh Church Hall, Redruth starting at 7.30 pm is the culmination of the CRCC’s internal competition year with a set subject ‘Weather’ to be judged by Thelma Hope of Truro Camera Club.

Next Thursday again at Treleigh starting at 7.30 pm will be the Club’s Annual General Meeting.
