Camborne & Redruth Camera Club (CRCC)

Thursday 29th April 2010

Last Thursday (29-04-10) at the Treleigh Church Hall, the Club ran its ever popular portrait and table top photography evening. Reg Poad (Chairman) welcomed members and Claire the model who is a niece to C-RCC member Val Burtenshaw. Malcolm Jenkin, Andy Davies and Bob Morgan were on hand to give technical advice to the less experienced members.

Mary Poad provided a plethora of items sufficient to enable members to set up two tables for photography. At the conclusion of the evening Reg Poad thanked everyone who had helped to make it yet another successful event.

Also on Thursday evening at Tonbridge, Kent, the Final of the 2010 Mersea Island Photographic Challenge was played out. Reg Poad was delighted to learn that C-RCC shared third position with XRR from Watford. Last year the Clubs with membership of 50 and over dominated the competition but this year it was a different story with the under 50 membership clubs featuring in the top three positions. Vale came out winners with 86 pts, Hartlepool 83.5 pts, C-RCC & XRR 83 pts, Dingwall 80 pts and finally last year’s winners Tonbridge Camera Club 78 pts.

Tonight (06-05-10) again at Treleigh, the Club concludes its internal winter competitions with the 2009/10 Print and Projected Image of the Year, the judge being Derek Godridge (Penryn Camera Club).

Next Sunday (09-05-10) the Club will be running a joint Field Trip with the Cornwall Wild Life Trust’s Photo-Group to Respryn Bridge, meeting in the car park at 10.00 am and moving on to near-by Lanhydrock to photograph the Bluebell Woods before lunch and the Gardens in the afternoon.
