Camborne & Redruth Camera Club (CRCC) Sunday 11th April 2010 Reg Poad (C-RCC Chairman) welcomed members to the Club’s Annual General Meeting which was held last Thursday evening (08-04-10) at the Treleigh Church Hall. In his Chairman’s report he paid tribute to 92 year old Reg Sweet who is retiring this year in his capacity as Treasurer, a position he has held for at least 15 years. Reg who has been a C-RCC member for more than 35 years said that it was with great reluctance that he has had to relinquish his role as Treasurer and also to retire from Club life because of the increasing difficulty with his sight. Reg Poad also thanked his wife Mary for all the behind the scenes work she has carried out in her role as Competition Secretary. In her report Mary said that the Club had had a successful year both internally and externally. Members had entered 600 prints and digital images during the Club’s internal Competitions. In inter-club matches it had lost one match and that by only one point. As previously reported the Club was invited to take part in the MIPS Challenge 2010 and finished third in its Group and has gone through to the final at Tonbridge at the end of April. Individual members also have had acceptances in prestigious Photographic Salons both in the United Kingdom and abroad. The Club’s 2009/10 Internal League Competitions culminated a fortnight ago and Mary announced the principal results. Kevin Leah won all the classes in the Intermediate Group viz Colour and Monochrome Prints, Colour and Monochrome Projected Images and the overall points award. Kevin has now been promoted to the Advanced Group. In the Advanced Group, the competition was much tighter and the final awards were only decided during the final competition which was a set subject ‘Weather’. Clive Kingsley came out on top in the Colour and Monochrome Projected Images Sections and he was also the overall points winner. Jim Tarbox won the Monochrome Print Section and the Colour Print Section went to Bob Morgan. There were no changes to the Club’s annual subscription but the meeting payment has been increased to £2.00. The policy of no payment by prospective new members for their first meeting would continue. The Club’s recently purchased Studio Flash units and accessories would be available for hire to Club members only at £35.00 per week. The following members were elected :- President - Malcolm Jenkin, Chairman – Reg Poad, Vice Chairmen – Richard McGee & Noel Ellis, Secretary – Jenny Goodman, Treasurer – Brian Moyle, Competition Secretary – Mary Poad, Publicity – Peter Keverne, Web Master – Andy Davies, Refreshments – Andy Davies. Jenny Goodman, Andy Davies and Peter Keverne were thanked for the work they had carried out during the past year. It was agreed that the Treasurer only paid directly for the Club’s regular financial commitments and any additional payments would have to be approved by the Committee and only then if documentary evidence is produced. There was also a change in the rules regarding the presentation of monochrome prints and Projected Images. It was agreed that the Club fall in line with the standard as laid down in the WCPF rules that monochrome prints can be toned but any single highlighted colour (known as colour popping) would be deemed a colour entry. For the Club’s 2010/11 Winter programme Competitions up to six entries would be allowed from each member with no more than three entries in any one of the following classes :- Colour Prints. Monochrome Prints, Colour Projected Images and Monochrome Projected Images. The WCPF Set Subject is ‘Missing’ and after seeking suggestions from the members the C-RCC Set Subject ‘Humour’ was the favoured subject. There was no support for the continuation of the Audio/Visual Group but the Tuesday Studio evenings for Portraiture and Table Top Photography would continue to be held monthly. The 2010 Spring and Summer Field Trip Programme has been published. Any further suggestions from members for additional destinations could still be implemented into the programme. Delia Trathen was appointed C-RCC’s Western Counties Photographic Federation’s representative and for the Cornwall Photographic Alliance, Malcolm Jenkin and Andy Davies would represent the Club. In conclusion Reg Poad thanked Dorothy Matt-Davey for running the raffle which raised over £30.00 this will go towards the purchase of a suitable backdrop for portraiture. He also thanked members for their support throughout the year and for attending the AGM. Last Sunday (11-04-10) the C-RCC ran a well supported all day double destination Field Trip, first a morning visit to Newquay Zoo and in the afternoon to the nearby National Trust property, Trerice House. Jim Tarbox has been in the news yet again this time gaining the runner-up position in the Cornish World magazine’s April/May edition photographic contest. Three members were informed last Sunday (11-04-10) that they have had acceptances in the 2010 German Open Salon: - Barbara Jenkin with ‘Chocolate Splash’ and ‘Lookout at the End of the World’; Malcolm Jenkin with ‘The Red Steps’, ‘Chapel Abstract’ and ‘The Long March’; and Peter Keverne with ‘Fishing Boats-Polperro’ and ‘Green Roofs – St Ives’.
