Camborne-Redruth Camera Club June 2011 Report The Club’s varied summer programme is now in full swing. On Sunday 5 June they could be found photographing the Cornwall Motocross Club’s British Clubman Sidecar-cross round at Truthan Farm, nr. St Erme. Members were appreciative of the help given by the CMXC officials enabling them to gain better vantage points for photography. Weather thwarted the next scheduled field trip (12-06-11) to the Dartmoor Zoological Park, Sparkwell, Devon. However as this is a popular annual venue for the members it was rearranged to take place the following week-end (19-06-11). This time the weather did not disappoint and some interesting images were taken. On Sunday (26-06-11), though it was a late inclusion to the programme, the Club ran a field trip to the Siblyback Lake, nr Liskeard. This area offered a variety of photographic possibilities ranging from water sports to natural history. In the early afternoon several of the members moved on to Minions, the Hurlers and the Cheesering for landscape photography. The next field trip is scheduled for 10 July and will be another trip into Devon, first to photograph the interior of Oldway Mansion, Paignton and, depending on weather, either to move on to nearby Stover Park or Buckfastleigh - Butterfly Farm. The above field trips were arranged by Reg Poad (Chairman). The final field trip for June took place last Monday evening (27-06-11) when members had exclusive permission to photograph the interior of Truro Cathedral which had been negotiated through the Cathedral’s office by advanced member Kevin Leah. This field trip was extremely well supported. For providing the facilities the Club gave a generous donation to the Cathedral.
There have been two committee meetings during the month with the main subjects discussed being the 2011/12 Winter Programme and the revision of the Club’s Constitution. The programme has been finalised and will be published shortly. Though the programme still retains much of its normal format with Memorial and Field Trip competitions, inter-club and club critique evenings there has been more emphasis on bringing in guest speakers to talk about their brand of photography. The other major change is in the internal competitions with each month having a different pair of designated subjects eg. Monochrome & Pictorial or Sport & Creative. Considerable progress has been made by Malcolm Jenkin (CRCC President) and Andy Davies (CRCC Vice Chairman) in the revision of the Club’s constitution. A further meeting is taking place in early August in order to fine tune it for presentation to the Club’s membership at a Special Meeting on Thursday 29 September 2011. The committee was informed that Jenny Goodman is standing down as Club secretary for personal reasons and that the assistant secretary John Wright has agreed to continue in this post as Acting Secretary. Val Burtenshaw and Neil Keen have both accepted the option to move from the Intermediate Group to the Advanced Group. Club members have been congratulating its president Malcolm Jenkin following the news that he has been awarded the distinction AFIAP (Artiste de la Fédération de l’Art Photographique). This is the first time a C-RCC member has been awarded this honour. Two other members Barbara Jenkin and Jim Tarbox have also gained the necessary acceptances, honourable mentions and medals in FIAP recognized exhibitions and will be applying for the same award in February 2012. Details of the Winter Season’s programme will be available soon on the Club’s website.
