The Camborne-Redruth Camera Club (C-RCC) met last Thursday evening (24-04-08) at the Treleigh Church Hall for its Annual General Meeting. Reports were given by Delia Trathen (Secretary), Reg Sweet (Treasurer) and Mary Poad (Competition Secretary). The reports revealed that the Club was in a healthy state financially and over the year there had been a considerable increase in the membership. It was pointed out however that the Club was due to purchase a new projection screen and that sufficient funds had always to be available for a replacement digital projector bulb.
In the various internal Competitions 763 images had been presented for judging. The following Intermediate Group members, Carol Weyman, Paul Davis and Charles Charlton were promoted to the Advanced Group. The Club entered for the first time the WCPF Audio/Visual Competition and was pleased to gain fourth position. Mary and Reg Poad, Reg Sweet, Delia Trathen, Bob Morgan and Peter Keverne all had work accepted in prestigious external exhibitions. Bob Morgan won the Mineral Tramways ‘What’s your sense of Place?’ photographic competition. In the Annual Photographic Competition of the Cornwall Wild Life Trust, Mary and Reg Poad along with other C-RCC members David Johnson, Carol Weyman, Jenny Leathes and Clive Kingsley featured in the results. The Club also staged an exhibition of its work at the Cornwall Centre, Redruth with 123 prints on show. It was well attended by the general public and received many favourable comments.
The Club’s 2008 Summer and 2008/09 Winter Programmes were discussed at length and many useful suggestions came from the members to help Reg and Mary Poad again to compile interesting and varied programmes.
Reg Poad (Chairman) thanked all the members who have helped to make the 2007/08 year such a success. Jenny Goodman, on behalf of the membership thanked Mary and Reg for their almost tireless energy and time they had devoted to C-RCC over the years making it the success it is today.

Reg Poad was in charge of the photography at the RCSS Wadebridge and Bob Morgan at Pencarrow. Prints of the action had to be available at the finish at Cap Ferret near Bordeaux five days later. As this was a Charity event on behalf of the Macmillan Cancer Support, C-RCC members graciously gave their time and services.

The Audio Visual Group of the Camborne-Redruth Camera Club (C-RCC) met at the Treleigh Church Hall on Tuesday15th April.
Mary Poad opened the evening with an interactive revision session with the members covering the Photoshop tuition of the past four months.
Mary followed this with the second part of her tutorial on adding sound to an A/V sequence. Using the Audacity software she demonstrated how to fade in and fade out the music track, how to reduce and to lengthen music tracks and finally how to add a voiceover. Mary said it was imperative that the script should be written in a large and clear font so as to be easy to read and ideally, placed in a plastic folder to stop paper crackling. Connecting a microphone, she made a short recording and this was then inserted into the appropriate place in a music track. She ended the session showing a sequence with voiceover about the ‘Pelargonium Family’.
The remainder of the evening was devoted to members showing their sequences with Reg Poad offering helpful advice on them. Sequences were show by:-
Malcolm Jenkin - ‘Antarctica’
Muriel Somerfield – ‘Bluebell Woods’
Bill Tonking – ‘Basilicas and Churches’
Peter Keverne – ‘Abstractions’
Jenny Goodman – ‘Christine in Hayle’ and ‘Sunday Afternoon at Gwithian’
Mary Poad – The Cathedral’
The final A/V Group meeting of the winter programme will be on Tuesday 20 May starting at 07.00pm.
Last Thursday evening (17-04-08) again at Treleigh Church Hall was a studio session for the members with the choice of Portraiture and Macro Flower Photography being available.
David Johnson supplied an interesting range of flowers to photograph, several different backgrounds and props. He was also on hand to give technical advice where necessary. Charles Charlton provided the electronic studio equipment for the portrait session.
Reg Poad (Chairman) thanked Charles and David for their efforts in making it a very interesting and successful evening.
On Sunday coming (27-04-08) the Club will be involved in an interesting field trip where they have been asked to photograph, on behalf of the organisers of the 2008 Cape to Cape Rally, part of the first stage of the Rally at the Royal Cornwall Site, Wadebridge and at Pencarrow. The Rally, which starts at Cape Cornwall and finishes six days later at Cap Ferret (France), is an annual charity event in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Support.
Tonight at the Treleigh Church Hall starting at 07.30pm is the Annual General Meeting. Members have been asked for ideas for inclusion in the summer field trip programme.

The Camborne-Redruth Camera Club (C-RCC) met last Thursday (10-04-08) at the Treleigh Church Hall for an Audio/Visual evening presented by Diane and John Tilsley of the Dorchester Camera Club. First Reg Poad (Chairman) welcomed Diane and John to the
C-RCC, as well as guests from St Ives, Truro, and Wadebridge Camera Clubs.
Diane Tilsley said in her introduction that with her husband she had spent seven glorious months exploring New Zealand both by land and sea and the various sequences to be presented was a record of this extended holiday. Both had contributed to the images. The technical aspects of the presentation were in her hands. Their selection of music ranged from classical to ultra-modern and she hoped that the audience would find this blending well with the images. John graphically introduced each sequence.
The audience was treated to stunning pictures of land and seascapes, flora, fauna, an amusing sequence of unique post boxes and signs, geysers, bubbling mud and finishing with a wander through almost primitive forest in one of New Zealand’s National Parks.
Malcolm Jenkin (President) thanked John and Diane for an enthralling evening and said it was rare in his experience to see so many good stand-alone pictures included in an audio/visual presentation.
Other news – Mary Poad and David Johnson have pictures in the current ‘Wild Cornwall’ magazine of the Wildlife Trust. Mary has a picture of a glacier taken on a recent Icelandic holiday and David of a teasel taken as part of the Heath Fest festival last autumn.
Tonight (17-04-08) again at the Treleigh Church Hall starting at 07.30pm is a studio portrait evening.
